Reflexivity Practice

Field Note Autopsy

cut it open and look

A field note, and a reflexive aside the researcher wrote about it later. Your job is to work out the actual relationship between the two: does the aside explain something you can see happening in the note, does it just sit beside it, or does it claim something the note doesn't actually support?

Context

Field note

Reflexive aside (written later)

What's the actual relationship between the two?

Explains a decision — ties directly to something visible in the note.  ·  Sits beside it — present, but unconnected to anything specific in the note.  ·  Contradicts the note — claims something the note itself doesn't support.
